The annual Tour de Munster fundraising cycle kicked off on Friday 8th August, from Cork City, embarking on a 600km journey, over 4 days to raise much-needed funds for the work of our 6 Munster branches.

Up to 100 amateur cyclists are taking to the by-ways of the beautiful province of Munster over the coming days and are looking for the public’s support to cheer them on and to dig deep and support their fundraising efforts.

Since its inception in 2001, the annual Tour de Munster has raised over €2.1 million for DSI. Now in its 18th year, the cycle garners great support as it makes its way through Munster every year. Joining the event is cycling legend Sean Kelly who has been a true supporter of the event for the past 12 years.

The event would not be as successful as it has been for our Munster branches without the dedication and hard work of not only the annual cyclists, but the large group of volunteers and organisers who make the event what it is.

If you are living or visiting the Munster region this weekend, please keep an eye out for the Tour de Munster crew, give them an encouraging beep or a shout and if you can, throw a few coins in their collection buckets!
