Dublin Schools Celebrate World Down Syndrome Day

The Dublin branch is hugely grateful to the many schools who celebrated World Down Syndrome Day in style yesterday – they rocked their socks, they made chromosome chains, they sang, they danced – and they ate lots of cake!

One Dublin school that really pushed the boat out was St Fiachra’s Junior School in Beaumont, where Down Syndrome Dublin member Mia Raftery is a student. Mia’s teacher, Mairead McCory spent time in the run up to yesterday having class discussions about Down syndrome and explaining why we celebrate March 21st, and then she organised lots of events throughout the school to celebrate the day.

We’re grateful to her and to all the teachers who put so much effort in to making World Down Syndrome Day 2019 special.
