Cavan students graduate from My Opinion My Vote political education programme

The students are pictured at the graduation ceremony in Cavan with Matt Carthy, MEP, their teacher Declan Cooney and Down Syndrome Ireland’s Head of Adult Education Gráinne de Paor.

During the ceremony, each student spoke about their experience while studying the political education programme. A highlight for many was their trip to Brussels to visit the political institutions of the EU, which forms part of the course.

Matt Carthy MEP kindly hosted and provided funding the group to take the trip.

Matt last night described the students’ visit to Brussels as one of the highlights of his own career and he looks forward to welcoming more of our students in the future.

Congratulations to the students – Emily Logan, Aileen Smith, Teresa Rahill, Margaret Brady, Kay Brady, Michael Lafferty and Tomas Nally and to the Cavan Branch of DSI and its local adult education manager, Clare Chamberlain for their work to bring this programme to Cavan.
