Children’s book – Including me

We recently received a very useful free publication from Graiguecullen Parish Childcare Centre.

The book ‘Including me’ focuses on early childhood education on identity and heritage, but it also stands up against bias in all its forms. Children with Down syndrome like to be with other children and actively seek out their company. This makes integration into any group far easier and rewarding for all.

Positive, visible depictions of children with Down syndrome in the environment are essential to support their inclusion and meaningful participation. Having books like this (which can be handmade very easily) in your book corner provide opportunities for discussion, and support children’s identity.

Our thanks to Eoin’s Mum Deirdre and her colleague Dianne from the Graiguecullen Parish Childcare Centre who shared the book with us.
