Claire’s work experience at Down Syndrome Ireland Finglas Shop

Work experience can be a huge benefit to adults with Down syndrome and the people they work with. Our charity shops offer work experience to anyone with Down syndrome that is looking to see what working in a retail environment is like.

We have one such person who has been working in our Finglas shop since February this year, meet Claire.

“Hi, my name is Claire. I enjoy doing work experience in the Down Syndrome shop. I like fashion, so it is great to work with men and women’s clothes. The other staff are very nice, they help me to learn how to work in a shop. Jobs that I do in the shop are steaming the clothes, sorting out the shoes and tidying the jewellery. It feels great to be part of the team in the Finglas shop. My work experience is great to have on the CV”

Thank you to Claire for sharing her experience with us, she’s a little camera shy but her testimony is a true picture of how work experience can benefit a person with Down syndrome.
