DSI members celebrate Hairdressing Assistant graduation

Five members of Down Syndrome Ireland recently celebrated their graduation following a hairdressing assistant course.

Emma, Lauren, Ciara, Samia and Ailis completed 10 weeks training with ALFAPARF Milano technical manager Ger Hand and DSI’s Gemma McMahon, followed by 10 weeks work placement in salons nationwide.

The programme, ‘Beauty in all Its Forms’ was created through our valuable partnership with ALFAPARF Milano in 2016.

The graduation was testament to the incredible work our members with Down syndrome are capable of when given the right training and opportunities alongside the right attitude of employers nationwide.

The project is Co-funded by the Government of Ireland, through the Department of Social Protection and the European Union.
