Down Syndrome Ireland is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year and we want as many people as possible to get involved!
Since being established back in 1971, Down Syndrome Ireland has relied heavily on the wonderful generosity of public fundraising and donations to sustain the provision of our vital services to children and adults with Down syndrome, and their families throughout Ireland. With only 14% State funding this reliance continues.
Help us celebrate our 50th Anniversary by taking on our 50 for 50 Challenge this October. We are asking people to raise a minimum of 50 euros by taking on a 50 based challenge – it could be to walk, run, cycle or swim 50km during the month, or do 50 push-ups/sit-ups/squats, etc, each day – it’s very much up to you what challenge you take on: Your Challenge Your Way!
The money raised from your 50 for 50 Challenge will help us continue our important work with children and adults with Down syndrome throughout Ireland.
How it works
Complete the following 3 simple steps:
Frequently Asked Questions
1. How does the 50 for 50 Challenge work?
The 50 for 50 Challenge will take place during October. It is up to participants themselves as to what challenge they take on: Your Challenge Your Way!
Suggestions include walking, run, cycle or swim 50km during the month, or do 50 push-ups/sit-ups/squats or whatever you find works for you each day. You do the challenge in your own time and link in with the 50 for 50 Challenge Facebook Group for peer-to-peer encouragement and support.
2. Is there a registration fee?
Registering is FREE for the 50 for 50 Challenge and you will get a FREE Challenge T-shirt when you sign up.
3. Is there a fundraising target?
There is no specific fundraising target, but we do ask each participant to raise a minimum of 50 euros to help us continue our important work with children and adults with Down syndrome throughout Ireland.
You can set yourself a fundraising target and let your supporters know what you are aiming to raise. Your target should be a challenge but also achievable with help from family, friends, and colleagues.
4. How do I set up my Facebook fundraiser?
We are working with GivePanel who have made it very easy for you to set up your 50 for 50 Challenge Facebook fundraiser and in no time at all, you will be ready to start sharing your fundraiser with all your Facebook friends and beyond.
Facebook charges no fees, so all the money donated goes directly to Down Syndrome Ireland. Always remember to thank each and every one of your supporters!
5. Can I raise money off Facebook?
If you prefer to raise money off Facebook you can set up an online fundraising page under Down Syndrome Ireland at iDonate by selecting the event 50 for 50 Challenge
Simply donate any funds you have raised here on our website by selecting ’50 for 50 Challenge’ from the drop-down menu.
6. Can someone else take part with me?
Yes, the more the merrier (dogs also welcome!). Simply tag friends, family members, or colleagues on one of our 50 for 50 Challenge social media posts or send them the link to get a FREE Challenge T-shirt when they sign up.
Taking part as a group is a great motivator – but please do ensure that you follow public health guidelines.
