Hold a Go for Gold Day for Down Syndrome Ireland and help us continue to provide support and services to children and adults with Down syndrome, and their families across Ireland.
Go For Gold for DSI – Corporate Challenge
We are asking companies of all sizes to host a Go for Gold workplace fundraiser and bring out the friendly competition within your team.
This can be any activity of your choice, a sporting challenge, a trivia challenge, a ‘Longest to Go Without’ Challenge, a movie marathon, the possibilities are endless! We can provide you with a bank of fundraising ideas, as well as a consultation meeting ahead of your fundraising efforts to help plan your initiatives and answer any questions.
We can also give a short presentation to your team around our work and the positive impact your funds raised will have on people with Down syndrome.
We will promote your support via our social media channels, allowing your employees to showcase your company’s support. For the Go for Gold corporate challenge we recommend setting up a virtual fundraising page with Enthuse, for any support or information needed please contact Phaedra@downsyndrome.ie.
Go For Gold for DSI – Schools & Community Groups
We are asking schools and Community Groups to host a Go for Gold fundraiser e.g. set up a Scavenger Hunt, Sports Day or Go for Gold Hero Day, using the Down Syndrome Ireland branded materials we provide to decorate the school and award a ‘medal’ sticker to everyone involved.
Each fundraising group will receive a Certificate of Appreciation for their fundraising.
We have a short video here that reflects on how education helps our members and what they hope to achieve with their learning.
Download our information sheet and teaching resources for your classroom or community group and let’s get everyone talking to raise awareness and improve their understanding of disability and the importance of inclusion.
To help kick off your day we have provided some fun downloadables:
You can register below to receive your pack (which includes Go for Gold branded balloons and stickers) and while you are waiting for your pack to arrive you can download this poster to advertise your Go For Gold day in your school or this poster to promote your Go For Gold day in your community group – we also have this awareness poster which you can print to help inform people why you are taking part in our Go For Gold campaign!
Our suggested donation on the day is €2 with all donations gratefully received.
We would love to see any pictures you take on the day please tag us @downsyndromeireland on social media and also use #GoForGold4DSI and #ShareTheJourney.
To set up an online page to share with parents and teachers, we recommend iDonate.
Please feel free to contact Bernice@downsyndrome.ie should you have any queries.
Why Go For Gold?
This summer campaign kicked off last year to celebrate our 50 year ‘Golden’ anniversary as an organisation. This year we are asking people to Go for Gold in whatever way they can by holding a celebration day in their own way. We have some suggestions here for getting involved in Go for Gold, such as a Sports Day, Cake Sale, Scavenger Hunt or Superhero day. This fun campaign replaces our older HB Funday campaign which finished in 2020.
How do we get involved?
Simply register on the form above, your pack with stickers will be sent out and download materials from the links. The day is a way to help celebrate, raise funds and further awareness of Down syndrome in Ireland.
Is there a fundraising target?
No, there are no targets, all funds are gratefully received.
How to lodge funds raised?
You can lodge funds raised via our donation page on our website.
Or through a bank transfer, please ensure you let us know and reference your name.
Donations can be made directly to our Bank Account using the details below:

Can we do our own theme for Go For Gold?
Yes, of course and please tell us about it. We love to hear about your fundraising and also will have Go For Gold certificates to celebrate your achievement, so please let us know.
What will the Go For Gold campaign help support in 2022?
It will enable us to continue providing practical resources specifically designed to meet the learning needs and abilities of young children with Down syndrome as they start Primary school. This is so important in giving them the best start on their educational journey.
