National conference & AGM

We are excited to announce that our AGM and Conference will take place in the Killeshin Hotel, Dublin Rd, Portlaoise, Co. Laois on Saturday 22nd September 2018 and we would love to see you there!

The day promises lots of informative speakers on topics relevant to parents and carers of both children and adults with Down syndrome. For children and teenagers, topics being discussed include supporting families during their child’s early years with our Early Intervention Officer Eimear Collins. The day also includes speakers outlining international sporting opportunities for children and teenagers with Down syndrome.

For school-leavers and adults, Christy Lynch – the Chairperson of the Government’s Personalised Budgets Taskforce – will be on hand to answer your questions on how the new funding mechanism could work and when it will be rolled out nationally.

As the life expectancy for people with Down syndrome continues to increase, Trinity College’s Professor Mary McCarron will present the latest insights on ageing in people with Down syndrome.

While parents can enjoy these informative talks, there are also separate programmes for children and teenagers with Down syndrome and their siblings throughout the day. Entertainment includes drumming workshops, magicians and quizzes.
