DSI Proud Recipient of KKR Grant

We are delighted to have been chosen as a proud recipient of the KKR Grants scheme, the Grants are a global effort focused on identifying and supporting the most innovative and effective nonprofits whose missions are aligned with priority areas, including delivering immediate aid to vulnerable populations impacted by the pandemic, providing innovative pathways of workforce recovery and development.

This philanthropic giving program established by KKR, the global investment firm, in response to the COVID-19 global pandemic has provided us with funding for our  Ability Online programme, which was developed during the pandemic and takes groups of 8 students through a structured curriculum using a blended learning model which combines live online teaching and discussions, online tasks and real work assignments.

The 10-week course aims to introduce adults to some of the skills they will need to live and work independently while the virtual group sessions support social connections and friendships.

With the KKR funding, we will be able to support adults with Down syndrome to learn new skills, engage with others and identify their next steps.
