Lost in the first announcement

“Lost in the first announcement was the point that a huge cohort of children with special educational needs (SEN) were left out of the return. Special schools plan to go back. Special classes in mainstream classes go back. But children with SEN in mainstream schools are not going back.”

Mum and Sunday Independent journalist Sarah Caden outlines that the current reopening of the schools plan announced by the Government falls far short of where it should be. Sarah also speaks to two DSI members, Lisa Hodnett from Cork and Colette Maguire from Dublin, whose children will also not return to school this week.

We are continuing to make representations on behalf of parents whose children do not benefit from the schools reopening next week.
