Alfie the Support Dog
Support dogs can help people cope with stress and anxiety.
This wonderful story was written by Niamh, our Kildare Branch teacher.
Thank you, Niamh.
Do you have a child in your family? Do you have a younger brother or sister? Do you have nieces or nephews or a young cousin? They would love to hear you read them a story. Can you record your voice or make a video of you reading a bedtime story? You could send it to them and they can listen before they go to bed. Remember to pick a children’s story to read!
If a text message or post comes for you, try to read it yourself.
Ask for help with new words.
You can learn how to spell the names of things in your house.
Ask for help to label everyday items in your house with a keyword.
Test yourself at the end of the week.
Cooking can help with your reading too:
Can you read a recipe in a cookbook?
Can you find the ingredients in the kitchen?
Can you measure the ingredients with a measuring scale?
