Celebrating National Volunteer Week 2020

National Volunteer Week takes place this year from 21st – 27th September. It is a whole week dedicated to highlighting and showing appreciation for volunteering across Ireland and we couldn’t be more excited to share the importance of this week.

Down Syndrome Ireland is extremely fortunate to have a wonderful team of volunteers who work right across our organisation nationwide, tirelessly supporting our branches, programmes and charity shops as well as playing a huge part in our fundraising events and promoting community awareness.

This has been a challenging year and, like everyone else, we have had to adapt how we work and how we support our members. Despite the many challenges we have all faced, our volunteers have continued to be there for us, demonstrating their generous spirit and passion.

From all of us to all of you, THANK YOU.

It is with your invaluable support that we can continue to work towards an improved quality of life for our members along with a respect and acceptance of people with Down syndrome as valued members of society.

The benefits of volunteer work are not only enjoyed by the community affected but also by the volunteers themselves in knowing that they have contributed to the transforming lives and supporting a worthy cause.
