HB 20th Anniversary

Celebrating a 20 year partnership

Down Syndrome Ireland and HB have been in partnership for an amazing 20 years with funds raised going towards amazing DSI programmes such as – See and Learn, which promotes speech and language development and aids communication in children with Down syndrome and Parent-Link, a support service provided by parent volunteers for new parents of babies with Down syndrome.

To celebrate our amazing 20-year partnership with Down Syndrome Ireland we have created a very special Hazelbrook Farm Vanilla Pack! For each pack sold we will donate 10c to Down Syndrome Ireland, with the funds raised this year going towards the Work Readiness Programme. This programme will combine online training with direct community engagement to advance employment opportunities for Down Syndrome Ireland members. Down Syndrome Ireland will design and deliver a series of courses to equip participants with skills needed to enter the workplace, by facilitating opportunities for practical work placements while providing the necessary theory and literacy skills related to each sector.

When the Covid-19 pandemic struck, Down Syndrome Ireland’s Work Skills courses were paused and those who had progressed through the programme into employment were furloughed or lost their jobs. In order to support as many members as possible, DSI took their Ability Programme online. DSI developed Support at Home resources, to help members stay busy and active and created a new course called Ability Online, combining online tasks with group discussions to equip students with skills to live and work independently, while supporting social connection. DSI are now developing the Work Readiness Programme to engage their Ability Programme participants and enable them to realise their potential.

This promotion will run from June to September 2021 and our DSI Hazelbrook Farm pack will be available in Mace, Eurospar, Spar, Tesco, Dunnes, Supervalu and Costcutter.
