Actress and Down Syndrome Ireland Ambassador, Jennifer Barry is set to run the Cork City Half Marathon, raising vital funds for Down Syndrome Ireland.

The Cork City Marathon takes place on Sunday June 1st, with half and full marathon routes through Cork City’s famous streets and historic landmarks.

Jennifer Barry is best known for her role in The Young Offenders.

She shared, “I’m running the Cork City Half-Marathon for Down Syndrome Ireland because I believe in a more inclusive and supportive society – one where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Every step I take is in solidarity with their mission and the incredible people they support every day.”

Jennifer and her brother Jack are both ambassadors for Down Syndrome Ireland. Together, they promote the work of Down Syndrome Ireland, who support and advocate for people with Down syndrome and their families, throughout their lives.

“Down Syndrome Ireland has been such an incredible support to us since Jack was small. He’s 29 now! Ever since he was a child, we’ve used their services. They have changed his life in ways I can’t describe. I couldn’t praise the work more. We’re joint ambassadors, and for me it’s about giving back. For him, it’s about showing people ‘I work with Down Syndrome Ireland’.”

Speaking about Down Syndrome Ireland, Jennifer said, “The work Down Syndrome Ireland does in empowering individuals with Down syndrome and supporting families within the organisation is truly inspiring, and I want to help raise awareness and funds to support their vital services.”

“Down Syndrome Ireland provides essential services, advocacy, and support to people with Down syndrome and their families, helping them lead full, vibrant lives in our communities. Down Syndrome Ireland works tirelessly to create a more inclusive society, offering everything from early intervention programs and educational resources to career development and social programs for adults. Their impact changes lives.”
