Down Syndrome Ireland’s social media channels are public spaces where we engage with our community of members and supporters, share information relevant to our work and network with organisations and individuals who share our passion for our wider community.

Down Syndrome Ireland does not agree with or endorse every comment that individuals post on our social media channels. Our goal is to share stories, information, support and events that highlight our membership with as many people as possible. Sharing content may at times lead to lively or heated discussion and debate.

However, to ensure that conversations remain respectful and constructive, there are guidelines we would ask you to follow.

When posting, we ask you to refrain from the following:

  • False, misleading or deceptive statements.
  • Defamation to a person / people or group.
  • Persistent negative interaction.
  • Hate speech or use of slurs.
  • Profanity, obscenity or vulgarity.
  • Name-calling and/or personal attacks.
  • Shouting i.e. everything written IN CAPS.
  • Content that is completely off-topic or repetitive.
  • Links to unrelated personal blogs or websites.
  • Content whose main purpose is to sell a product.
  • Spam material, such as the same commenter commenting or asking questions repeatedly on a profile.
