Due to the current Work to Rule directive for schools and teachers, we are postponing our Primary School webinar on October 13th. The webinar will be rescheduled once resolution has been reached.
Getting Ready for Adult Services – October 14th
Join us for an open and practical conversation about preparing for discussions with the HSE about adult services you may be considering or joining in 2027.
We’ll look at the new direction in policy, what it may mean in practice, and how families can ask questions and seek clarity about what is actually available. Most importantly, we’ll keep the person with Down syndrome at the heart of the conversation. What do they want? What are their hopes, interests and choices? How can their voices be heard and respected when decisions are being made about their future?
We’ll explore possible questions that you and your person can ask when meeting or being interviewed, including questions about supports, choices, opportunities, daily life, independence, and how the service will respond to the individual rather than simply fitting them into what is available. This is an opportunity to come along, share experiences, ask questions and help each other feel more prepared and confident when having these important conversations with the HSE and adult services.

Parenting Through Puberty: Sexual Health Education for Parents of Young People with Additional Needs – November 11th & 25th
Puberty brings important changes in a young person’s body, emotions, relationships and growing independence. Knowing how and when to talk about sexuality, relationships, boundaries and safety can sometimes feel challenging. These practical two-hour webinars will explore how parents can support their young person’s sexual health, wellbeing and independence through three key strands.
We are delighted to welcome Dr Clara O’Byrne., PhD., M.Sc., M.Ed., M.Phil., B.Sc., B.A. Chartered Psychologist (Coaching & Education) of Mulberry Education & Psychology Services as our guest presenter for both webinars. Dr Clara is a Chartered Psychologist and Neurodiversity Advocate. A former special school teacher and NCSE advisor, she runs a private practice in West Cork. Dr Clara’s extensive training has focused on neuro-affirming practice, coaching psychology, brain/body connection, stress management and science of wellbeing. Dr Clara has a particular interest in working with neurodivergent individuals, parents, and teens.
