Christmas Tree Collection 2025
We would like to wish Alex Power, his dad Fergal and their growing army of volunteers the best of luck with planning for their annual Christmas tree collection this year.
Last year, the collection in Booterstown and surrounding areas raised a whopping €15,500 for Down Syndrome Ireland, and brings the total collected to more than €28,000 in just four years.
In 2024, €3,500 of the funds raised was given to Down Syndrome Ireland Mayo Branch, where Alex’s uncle Noel lives. The balance was utilised by Down Syndrome Ireland Head Office to fund children’s Speech and Language therapy.
Early therapeutic intervention for children with Down syndrome is crucial. Speech and language therapy is an important intervention, helping promote cognitive and social development. Without continual therapy from 6 months old the ability for children to access mainstream education and learn at the same level as their peers becomes a real challenge.
With only 18% State funding, Down Syndrome Ireland rely on collections like this to continue our work. Every euro is making a difference, helping provide services that support people throughout their lives.
Please help us continue our vital work by supporting the campaign to fund our National programmes helping people with Down syndrome at all stages in their lives reach their full potential.
Here are some examples of what your support can do.
- €18 will allow us to answer vital calls from new parents of children with Down syndrome to offer them advice and support.
- €52 could help fund special education packs
- €90 could give a child the gift of an hour’s speech and language therapy.
- €190 could give a child the gift of Lámh, (a form of sign language) to help them communicate with those around them.
Special Thanks to the volunteers who helped in 2024.
