Down Syndrome Ireland’s 2025 AGM
Down Syndrome Ireland Holds Annual General Meeting at Clayton Hotel, Leopardstown on Saturday, November 8th, 2025.
At the meeting, Gerard O’Carroll stepped down as President of the Board, marking the end of his dedicated term. New President, Martina Kelly, was warmly welcomed to her new role upon winning the election. Máire Neary was also elected onto the Board of Directors.
All motions were passed, and members engaged in open and constructive discussions around the 2024 motions. The meeting provided a valuable opportunity for members to share their concerns, ask questions, and collaborate on ideas for the future.
The National Advisory Council also had their AGM. They invited the Board into their meeting and informed members on the work they have done this past year.
It was a positive and inspiring gathering where staff, branch committees, and members came together to connect, share ideas, and strengthen our shared purpose.
A strong message of unity resonated throughout the day, as CEO Aidan Stacey encouraged everyone to “work together,” reminding us that we all share the same goal to “bring more meaning to the lives of people with Down syndrome.”
As the meeting concluded, members expressed heartfelt appreciation for outgoing President Gerard O’Carroll. A spontaneous bualadh bos and standing ovation followed, a fitting tribute to his years of tireless service and commitment to the organisation.
