Giving It Socks – DSI Members Meets the Tánaiste
Members of Down Syndrome Ireland presented the Tánaiste with this years Lots of Socks, created by Amy Mulroe (11), celebrating diversity and inclusion.

Parents and children who are part of Down Syndrome Ireland’s Early Intervention playgroups met with the Tánaiste to celebrate and call for support for children across Ireland.
Áine Farrelly, parent of Edie, knows first-hand the difference that vital support can make: “life with Down syndrome looks a little different, but Edie has brought more love, joy and perspective to our lives than we could have ever imagined. I hope when people see her, they see her abilities before her disability. The supports we have received have allowed Edie to thrive, and will, I hope, help her to achieve her potential in the future.
Tánaiste, Simon Harris said: “I was delighted to meet with members of Down Syndrome Ireland today. People with Down syndrome are such an important part of Irish society and it’s so important to celebrate this. Wearing the socks is a powerful sign of solidarity, but inclusion must be matched by consistent support and delivery of vital services.”
DSI is urging everyone in Ireland to wear their socks proudly on World Down Syndrome Day – not just to celebrate difference, but to stand in solidarity behind the call for equal access and lasting change.
