A big thank you to everyone who has completed the teens and adults health survey!

If you haven’t had your say yet, here are the links to the survey which comes in two versions:

Parents and carers here.

Teens and adults with Down syndrome here.

It takes around 5 minutes to complete.

We are trying to get a general picture about awareness of health-related information and research among teenagers and adults with Down syndrome and their families, and to find out how best to get information to you about these topics.

We will use the information to find out the best way to communicate with you about health and research, to highlight common issues, and to advocate for services.

These surveys are anonymous. Please do not include names and contact details in your answers.

Please contact your GP for medical advice if you are concerned about any of the issues raised in the survey.

Further links to specific topics and recommendations for routine checks can be found here:

We also recommend the book, ‘Mental Wellness in Adults with Down Syndrome’ by Chicoine and McGuire, which is now available as a free download here.

We are also looking for participants in a Mental Wellbeing Survey

Are you a teenager with Down syndrome?

Do you go to school in a moderate special class or a special school?

Would you and your family like to help with research?

A student at Trinity College Dublin is looking for participants for a mental health survey.

The survey will cover:

  • What is being done well to help mental wellbeing?
  • What could be done better?
  • What needs to be done for students in the future who are in moderate special classes in post-primary schools or in special schools?

If you and your parents would like to participate, email Moira McCarthy at momccart@tcd.ie
