Our Branches Celebrate World Down Syndrome Day 2026

The Carlow branch held their annual Walk your Socks Off event in Rathwood, which also included a raffle and lots of ice creams and treats for everyone!

The Clare branch held their 5th annual Odd Socks cycle, with 50km and 100km routes. Cyclists wore fun and colourful socks to show their support for World Down Syndrome Day and there was even a prize for the best dressed ankles!

City Hall in Cork City was lit up purple on Saturday night in celebration of World Down Syndrome Day. Singer Colm Warren also teamed up with the branch to release an inspirational video for his song “Without You”. Watch here.

The Donegal branch threw a World Down Syndrome Day party at Jackson’s Hotel Ballybofey, with food, friends, and even a special visit from some Disney characters!

Members of the Dublin branch held lots of different celebrations on Saturday 21st, from coffee mornings, to hip hop classes, early years play sessions, and even a dinner dance! 

Members of the Galway branch wore their most colourful socks this World Down Syndrome Day to support our Lots of Socks campaign!

Minister for Children, Disability and Equality, Norma Foley, visited the Kerry branch to celebrate and officially announce Glór – Voices for Life. You can also watch her special World Down Syndrome Day message here.

 There were plenty of Lots of Socks celebrations happening in Kildare this Saturday March 21st. From spots, stripes, smiley faces, and even Buzz Lightyear and Woody, we absolutely loved seeing all your cool and funky socks! 

Members of the Kilkenny branch were out and about in the city celebrating, spreading smiles, and raising awareness this March 21st. Did you spot any members out in their colourful socks?

The Laois branch celebrated the day at the Abbeyleix Manor with food, friends and fun entertainment for all!

The Leitrim branch hosted a World Down Syndrome Day party at the Dock Café in Carrick-on-Shannon on March 21st. We hope everyone had an amazing time!

Limerick branch members were out in full force on Saturday, celebrating, spreading awareness, and fundraising. To top it all off, they even received special messages from Miriam O’Callaghan and Andrew Brace! 

A big shoutout to all the schools who celebrated Lots of Socks with the Longford/Westmeath branch this year! We loved seeing all your fun and colourful socks!

The Louth/Meath branch celebrated with a special afternoon dedicated to community, inclusion, and celebration. The day included games, sensory activities, dance performances and more!

Mayo branch member, Caitlín Malone, celebrated World Down Syndrome Day in Belgium at the World Championships i-Karate Tournament. To mark the occasion, she gave all her fellow athletes colourful socks to celebrate! 

Members in the Offaly branch were treated to a special salon visit, which included a hair wash and blow-dry at the Brushed Hair Salon in Tullamore. What a treat for World Down Syndrome Day!

The Tipperary hurling team supported the Tipperary branch at Semple Stadium, showing off their colourful socks for World Down Syndrome Day! We hope everyone had a fab time!

Lots of members got together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day together in the Waterford South Kilkenny branch! We hope you all had a lovely time together!

Members of the Wicklow branch celebrated together at Belmont and were blessed with beautiful sunny weather!
