Our services are 82% funded by the public’s generosity, see how you can make an impact below.

Down Syndrome Ireland is the voice of people with Down syndrome and their families throughout Ireland – there to support across all the life stages, from newborn to adulthood.

With only 18% State funding, we rely heavily on public fundraising and the generosity of communities, workplaces, schools, and individuals.

Your support will help fund our National health, education, and employment programmes. Together we can celebrate, support, and advocate for people with Down syndrome.

If you would like to discuss ways to support Down Syndrome Ireland, please contact a member of our Fundraising Team on 01 426 6500 or email info@downsyndrome.ie

Tax Effective Giving

Help even more people with Down syndrome without donating an extra cent!

If you have kindly given to Down Syndrome Ireland in the last four years, taking just a moment of your time now to complete a tax form could allow us to increase your donation by 44.9%.

What is the tax relief scheme?

If you are a taxpayer* and have given €250 or more to Down Syndrome Ireland during the calendar year, your donation(s) can be worth 45% more at no extra cost to you.

The CHY3 tax form is valid for five years and doesn’t commit you to make any future donations. It enables Down Syndrome Ireland to claim tax back for any year that you gave €250 or more – without having to send you a form each year.

We can claim tax back for the past four years – so, if you donated within this time frame, this is your chance to claim it.

* Resident in Ireland, paying income tax (PAYE or self-assessed) or capital acquisitions/gains tax

All you need to do

Download, print, and complete the CHY3 form and return to:

Down Syndrome Ireland Unit 3, Park Way House, Western Parkway Business Park, Ballymount Drive, Dublin 12, D12HP70 (no stamp needed).

OR

Email info@downsyndrome.ie or phone 01 426 6500, and we’ll post a form and a reply envelope to you.

What your donations are worth

The rate of tax relief for charities is a blended rate of 31% for all donors, irrespective of the actual tax rate paid.

The gross donation is determined to be 100% / (100% – 31%) = 144.93% of the net donation, so the tax relief works out as 44.93% of the net donation – i.e. approximately 45% of what you paid.

How tax relief helps your donation grow

The value of your donationIncrease after tax
€250€362.32
€500 €724.64
€1000€1449.29

Regular donations count too. E.g. a monthly donation of €21 over 5 years could be worth €1,826

Leave a Gift in your Will

Leaving a donation in your will (legacy) to Down Syndrome Ireland is a lasting act of kindness. Your gift will continue to make a difference to those who have Down syndrome and their families, ensuring your legacy makes a difference for many years to come.

Deciding to include a legacy gift to a charity is a very special way to support a cause that matters to you in the future.

Legacy gifts allow us to plan for the future and help us to continue to provide life-long support to those with Down syndrome and their families. Your gift will impact children, young people, adults and their families for years to come.

Legacies to charities are tax free, so leaving a gift to Down Syndrome Ireland can help reduce the tax payable on your estate.

We hope you will consider including a legacy to Down Syndrome Ireland. If you do, please let us know so we have the chance to thank you and to discuss your wishes.
