Massive congratulations to our amazing graduates from the Beauty in All its Forms hairdressing training programme who were presented with their Hairdressing Assistant Certification in front of a cheering crowd at the ALFAPARF Milano Fantastic Hairdresser Awards last Sunday the 20th in the RDS, Dublin.

Ciara Donohoe (20) from Newtownmountkennedy in Co Wicklow, Rachel Connell (23) from Castlepollard Co Westmeath, Niamh Sheridan (26) from Newmills Co Donegal, Heather Berger (25) from Balbriggan, Dublin, Mary Clare Shaughnessy (23) from Stradbally Co Laois and Emer Sinnott (22) from Mountrath Co Laois who have graduated from our Beauty in All its Forms Programme. BIAIF is a joint initiative of Down Syndrome Ireland and professional haircare brand Alfaparf Milano. The programme gives adults with Down syndrome the opportunity to train as hairdressing assistants with a view to securing long-term employment, through our Ability Programme.

The programme which was launched three years ago, has proven to be incredibly successful with over 60% of students working part-time in salons throughout Ireland.

They are photographed with ALFAPARF Milano Technical Director Ger Hand, Down Syndrome Ireland’s Head of Adult Employment Aoife Gaffney and Regional Employment Officer for Dublin  Mary Frances O’Dwyer.

The next cycle of the 17-week programme will begin in January 2020. If you would like to find out more or to take part in the programme, please email us at Aoife@downsyndrome.ie.
