Family Support

Our Family Support Service provides an ‘all-through-life’ service to families across Ireland. If you are a parent, grandparent, or carer of a child with Down syndrome, we are here to help.

You will find lots more information and details of our services for families here but below is a flavour of our family support service.

Member Support Team

Our specialist advisers provide all through life support to people with Down syndrome and their families across Ireland.

Our Member Support Team are specialists in the areas of health, speech and language, early development, education, adult education and independence, and adult advocacy issues and can provide you with information, advice and support. You can find out who to contact in our Members Support Team here.  This website is a goldmine of useful information provided by our resident experts on all these topics and should be your first port of call. If you can’t find what you are looking for on this website, or need further advice, please don’t hesitate to contact us on 01 4266500 or email us on info@downsyndrome.ie.

Regional Resource Officers

Our Regional Resource Officers can also help you to access support locally and may be able to direct you to other sources of information. You can find our Regional Resource Officers here.

Down Syndrome Clinic in Tallaght Hospital

We run a Down syndrome clinic in Tallaght Hospital for babies and children with Down syndrome. Our Clinical Research Nurse  is the only dedicated nurse in the country who specialises in the syndrome. She can provide telephone advice and support to children and families from birth to 18 years nationwide. We are also campaigning to have similar clinical nurse specialist posts around the country for children and adults who have Down syndrome.

Conferences

We find conferences are a wonderful way of making sure that all members of our community have access to the latest news, advice, tips and support from national and international experts. Find out more here.
