Department of Education Guidelines on the Use of Reduced School Days

The Minister for Education, Norma Foley TD, and the Minister of State for Special Education and Inclusion, Josepha Madigan TD, have launched guidelines on the use of reduced school days.

These guidelines aim to ensure that the use of reduced school days will be limited solely to those circumstances where it is absolutely necessary. They have been developed following consultation with the relevant education partners, including representatives from Down Syndrome Ireland.

The guidelines give direction on the process to be followed where the use of reduced school days is under consideration for a pupil.

Information on the guidelines can be found on the Gov.ie website.
